Quarterly Construction Update

With the first half of 2019 coming to a close and summer kicking off, we’re excited to share an exciting recap of some progress-filled months on our construction sites.

The Yukon

We kicked off construction of The Yukon, Chard’s second strata commercial and light industrial development in Mount Pleasant, in early May. Located at the corner of 6th Avenue and Yukon Street, an existing two-storey structure was demolished in just 2 days. An official ground breaking ceremony followed with the Chard team, Ventana Construction, Proscenium Architecture and Colliers International marking the commencement of construction.

The new 4-storey building will feature modern office and industrial spaces, many with private terraces and skyline views. Extensive end of trip amenities including secured bike lockers and shower facilities will make this an enviable home base for many businesses who will find themselves perfectly situated in Vancouver’s hub of convenience, culture, and community. A few opportunities are still available.

Elenore on Fifth

At Elenore on Fifth, the building structure reached its full height this past quarter. The team celebrated the final concrete pour with a topping off event to acknowledge the hard work put in to reach this milestone. The formwork is now complete, interior work has commenced and window installation is well underway.

Offering the refined interior finishes found in our Signature Suites, including an impressive array of enviable upgrades and a private 362 square foot rooftop terrace with 360-degree views, suite 803 is the final opportunity to call Elenore home. For more details visit the Elenore on Fifth website.

The Yates on Yates and Vivid at the Yates

With 70-80 workers on site daily, The Yates on Yates is quickly taking shape. The team recently completed the biggest concrete pour to date with 720 cubic metres of concrete poured over 10,000 square feet in a single day to form the level 3 slab. It took 2 pump trucks, 72 concrete trucks and 13 hours to complete! The Yates structure has now reached level 6. Looking to call The Yates on Yates home? A limited selection of suites still remains available for purchase. For more information visit www.yatesonyates.com.

Construction of the sold out Vivid at the Yates has reached grade and will now start to climb 20-storeys above Johnson Street. The first floor slab required over 475 cubic metres of concrete. That is 475,000 litres on one floor alone and is equivalent to the amount of ice needed to create about 10 hockey arenas! With formwork set to complete for level 2 early this month, construction is moving along quickly on this busy site.

St. Georges

The construction of our 256 rental homes in Central Lonsdale is well underway and we’ve seen great strides in the project this quarter. Excavation for the West Tower was completed in early May and the structure will reach grade in the coming weeks as formwork and concrete pours have now been completed up to the P1 level. All window installations are now complete on the East Tower with interior walls not far behind. Each day, approximately 100 workers attend this busy site. We’re looking forward to sharing more information with you in the coming months as the towers continue to take shape!
