The leaves have turned, the air is brisk and sweater weather is in full effect! The crews on our sites have been working hard over the summer months and have no intention of cooling down!  In addition to the over 600 homes we have under construction, our newest commercial addition to the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood, The Yukon, is now underway and we’re excited to share about some big progress over the last few months.

Construction at The Yukon, our second strata commercial development in Mount Pleasant, is now well underway! Excavation was recently completed, and the crane was installed on site in September. The construction team has begun to pour the building’s footings and parkade formwork is underway.

With its sophisticated design by Proscenium Architecture + Interiors, The Yukon will provide office and light industrial space across four floors. The building has an impressive list of features including extensive end of trip amenities which include secured bike lockers and shower facilities. At Elenore on Fifth, the team has been working hard over the last few months to button up the building and a new phase of construction has started as the interiors begin to take shape. The crane was removed in August. There are 90-100 workers on site daily and all residential windows have now been installed. The suites have been framed and drywall finishing is well under way. Kitchen and bathroom millwork installation has commenced throughout the building and we’re starting to see installation of appliances throughout the lower levels. The suites are really taking form and the views are spectacular!

Looking forward to the coming months, the exterior will begin to transform as the brick cladding has already started on the west face of the building. In addition, we are set to see the installation of the window walls at the ground floor commercial level before November is through; we look forward to this first step towards activating the streetscape along Main St and 5th Avenue.

The site at Yates and Johnson has been very active over the summer months and some significant progress has been made. We saw the shared parkade and podium reach completion over the summer.

An exciting milestone was achieved earlier this month at The Yates on Yates when the 10th floor concrete was poured, marking the halfway point to reaching the building’s full height! The tower’s windows have been delivered to the site and installation will begin in the coming weeks. Not far behind, Vivid at the Yates is starting to take its proud place in the Victoria skyline. The fifth floor concrete has now been poured and the tower continues to climb!

Our newest addition to the North Shore community has seen some great progress over the last quarter! Renovations on the East tower have turned a corner with suites entering the finishing stages and the exterior of the building is beginning to transform. Just to the West, the 24 storey West tower is rising quickly. Floor plates have been poured up to level 7 and we should be seeing the structure reach its midway point before the end of the year.

When complete this project will add over 250 rental homes with extensive amenities to the Central Lonsdale neighbourhood. Occupancy of the East tower is anticipated for Spring 2020. For more information, visit www.theroyalsrentals.com
