Our team is committed to providing the right product in the right place at the right time. That’s why, earlier this month, we submitted a rezoning application to the City of Vancouver that proposes to bring 152 units of purpose-built rental housing to the southeast corner of E Broadway and Ontario Street.
Currently zoned for commercial and retail uses, this application recognizes the significant need for housing along the Broadway corridor and answers the call for specific housing targets as put forth by the City of Vancouver’s in its Broadway Plan. We believe this change to rental housing – with community-serving retail at grade – serves a greater purpose than the previously proposed office usage, particularly given the impending completion of the SkyTrain Millennium Line extension project along Broadway.
The proposed 152 rental homes in this prime transit-oriented and desirable neighbourhood will include a diverse mix of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom homes to accommodate a range of household types. A proposed 6,300 sf of indoor and outdoor amenity space includes a fitness centre, bike storage and maintenance workshop, social spaces, and rooftop outdoor terrace. Community serving retail has been put forward in this application to provide 4,200 sf at the ground level, along with publicly accessible bike share parking, and two levels of underground parking to provide 71 parking spaces.
At Chard, we are committed to building across the housing continuum and delivering based on market needs. We are proud to have submitted an application for rezoning that we believe meets the needs of this community and we look forward to working in collaboration with the City to bring this housing to life.
