Last fall, Chard committed a $100,000 contribution to the BCIT Foundation to support development of the BCIT Trades and Technology Complex and to help increase the supply of skilled trades people within the Province of BC.
A BCIT alumni himself, Chard Development’s Founder, Dave Chard, joined fellow industry veterans and donors at BCIT last week to celebrate an exciting milestone of $33 million raised in funding for the new Trades and Technology Complex.
“I am thrilled that Chard Development has been able to play a part in this important undertaking,” said Dave Chard “I look forward to continuing to collaborate with BCIT and the development community to help increase the supply of skilled trades.”
With labour requirements projected to continue to increase to the tune of an estimated 85,000 new trades jobs over the next 10 years, the need for new skilled trades to join the workforce continues to be of utmost importance.
“Skilled trades are crucial to not only our projects but also to increasing housing across the board,” said Chard President & CEO, Byron Chard. “We are pleased to do our part to support BCIT in enhancing and increasing the delivery of training to help meet the labour needs across the Province.”
For nearly 60 years, BCIT has been delivering flexible, relevant, and future-proof education that prepares learners to provide applied solutions to industry challenges. The Trades and Technology Complex will increase access for students pursuing a trades and technology education and career.
