On June 8, the Chard team held a topping off ceremony to celebrate completion of the exterior structure at our purpose-built rental development along Slocan and East Hastings. Trades and consultants gathered to recognize this exciting milestone with tacos from the Tacofino food truck.
Construction started over a year ago in March 2022. Following demolition of the previous structure, excavation, shoring and foundation work over the spring and summer months, the structure reached grade this past December and began to rise above street level. Now at full height, the building has officially “topped off” and trades will move their focus towards interior finishing work.
This six-storey building will bring 70 much needed purpose-built rental homes to the Hastings Sunrise neighbourhood, complete with a central courtyard for residents to enjoy, and commercial space along the street level.
With the highest level of the structure now reached, we will see removal of the crane later this summer.
