We’re excited to share that The Royals is now 99% leased! With the completion of Tower 1 last summer and Tower 2 earlier this year, more than 250 families have now joined this brand-new Central Lonsdale community, along with a host of local businesses. With almost full occupancy having been achieved, our Display Suites have now been rented.
So, you might be wondering what happens to staging furniture after it is no longer needed for our Display Suites? Well, just like with all things we do here at Chard, we find ways to incorporate the repurposing or re-use of materials wherever possible. So, whether that’s the removal of old buildings to make way for new ones – such as our building on Cook Street that was recently deconstructed by the Unbuilders – or the reuse of staging furniture, it’s important to us to look for opportunities to create new uses for these materials and make an impact where we can.
While we do store some furniture for use in future projects, we certainly don’t store it all, especially when it can be put to good use elsewhere! So, what happens with the rest? At The Royals, the staging furniture used in the three Display Suites was still in perfect condition and giving it a second life was an easy decision. The Chard team was excited to pass along these much-needed items to the residents of May Brown Place – a community within The Royals that, through partnership with YWCA Metro Vancouver, provides 14 long-term rental homes for single mothers and their children at both rent geared-to-income and below market rental prices. We knew that the residents would be able to make good use of these items and they were certainly grateful to receive brand new furnishings to make their new homes a little more like their own.
