Meet Director of Sales, Jackie Ross

Jackie has been a cornerstone of the Chard team since 2012, bringing tremendous leadership, and exemplary customer relationship management. We asked her some questions to get to know her better. Check out her answers below!

What does a day in the life at Chard look like for you?

My days are ever changing. Some days are full of sales presentations, phone calls and meeting with realtors, buyers, or homeowners. Other days Iā€™m at the construction site making sure the suites are ready to turn over to happy homeowners. I also take care of ā€œback of houseā€ details like training the sales teams, writing contracts, and keeping updated on sales trends and the market. Iā€™m always open to change and love to try on different hats, so whenever anyone on our team needs help, Iā€™m happy to jump in!

What do you enjoy MOST about working at Chard?

There are so many things I enjoy about my job. I love our Chard team, itā€™s a great group of diverse and interesting talents to work with and they make each day enjoyable. But my biggest joy is to help our homeowners find the perfect home and ensure they have a great experience, with exceptional follow up service. The homeowners are the icing on the cake, so to speak.

Can you share a career highlight or accomplishment you’re proud of?

Chard has partnered a couple of times with BC Housing to help first time buyers get into the tough real estate market, and I have found those projects particularly fulfilling.

The challenge of these programs is that they are detailed and can be confusing for buyers and their realtors. Therefore, for buyers to feel comfortable moving forward, we worked with our marketing team to come up with a presentation that was easy to understand with a few simple steps and I trained our sales team how to cover them to make the sales program uncomplicated. Our team did an amazing job and both projects sold out in record time, despite the fact the programs were very intricate! Notably, Chard recently won the CARE Award for Excellence in Housing Affordability for our work on both projects.

How are you challenged in your role?

With the ever-changing real estate market and factors that impact it, there is always a challenge. I have worked for the company for almost 12 years and daily something comes up that gives me an opportunity to learn, and problem solve. Itā€™s one of the things that keeps the job interesting and me engaged.

When you’re not working, what can we find you doing?

I love to cook! Last year for fun I made a 7-foot charcuterie a table for 40 of my friends and family and it was a huge hit. I always joke that when I retire, I will cook my way through my many cookbooks and my friends and family will all be well-fed and happy.

What is a fun fact about you?

Recently, Iā€™ve started running, and have grown to appreciate ā€œfunā€ runs. I participated in the Vegas Rock and Roll Half Marathon, as well as the Half-Corked Marathon in the Okanagan.  During the Half-Corked Marathon, you run through the vineyards and sip wine along the way. Itā€™s a great way to take in the beautiful scenery and to taste some of the amazing BC wines that come out of the area. Next up, I would love to do the Disneyland marathon in Florida, or any other destination run, that takes me to exotic places.
